One of my favorite mermaid paintings!
This one is by Haitian painter Fernand Pierre.
If we were exiled (for not conforming, that is, for becoming authentic)
and turned into mermaids, then
I would have to become a tropical
mermaid!
There is no way I could
survive joyfully in the cold dark
waters of the northern seas......
