Yesterday's project......


A Union Jack pillow, perfect for an armchair traveller!

I made the pillow by the dimensions of the bag of fiberfil....18"x 13". Then found wonderful ribbons to sew on for the crosses....

Before starting this, I had seen many creative take-offs on this idea by using Google "Images"...some were even done in soft pink and green shabby chic colors and floral fabrics. One was by British artist, Ann Carrington, and was made from worn blue jeans....create and "fly" any "flag" you like! The flags which feature "crosses" certainly will work well....Sweden? Norway? [I do have ancestors from the Yorkshire area....so I suppose I can claim this one!]

My current knitting project....pink leggings for the twin infant granddaughters from Bernat's "Baby Jaquards" yarn.

We came home from our trip to see family and found the hydrangea in full bloom for the first time!

I love the deep pink! This is an "Endless Summer" hydrangea which is supposed to bloom all summer....we shall see!

With summer humidity coming and Memorial Day yesterday I am craving a floaty sundress!!

Yesterday, I was at work, patterns were 99 cents each. I bought several and some fabric. However, I am SO happy that I have kept my old (1980's) Laura Ashley pattern. It is modest, comfortable, actually "floats" rather than "fits" and is a great pattern to showcase a fabric!

So, no form-fitting plunging necklines, no spagetti straps, no skimpy skirts....this is my favorite!!! [And the romper might be cute for gardening too!] Off to the sewing room now!

Planning some sewing......

This fabric "Good Folks", a line by Anna Maria Horner, is going to become an Easter dress for our granddaughter, Lilia......if the sketch is approved by daughter, Laura.

It is a Simplicity pattern....I think a bit of black trim would set it off just right...we'll see what "mom" thinks...!!!!!

This is Kwik Sew 3541. A learn to sew pattern. I think I could help my granddaughter to make this. She will be 10 years old in July. I like the "patchworky" version, of course! In fact I make make one for myself....below the knee 'though!

I am loving the color YELLOW today. I grabbed my yellow cotton sweater to wear to work today after seeing Diane Sawyer in her bright yellow this morning on Good Morning America.

This yellow fixation started when I saw the beautiful yellow tunics in "Slumdog Millionaire". It continues as I see daffodils coming up all over town!

Here is one from Target....oh, to have arms which could be bared! Sigh! Of course, LOL! it is TOO COLD for that yet anyway. SO, I will begin watching for the perfect yellow fabric and will sew my own yellow tunic for spring...with 3/4 sleeves.

Now, for my art exercise. This is a watercolor self-portrait. It is actually 2 halves, separated by a line of masking tape (which is removed as I paint). Realism is not the goal here, though I had to chuckle after scanning and seeing this on the screen, that I seem to have a "black eye" on the shadowy cooler side of the face!

Doing self-portraits often is recommended for artists....and especially when one is tired of painting other subjects. There are even Internet art groups which encourage painting a self portrait weekly, or perhaps doing 100 self-portraits. I'll post these as I work them out! Ha!!
