Tomorrow is April's full moon. It is called the "Pink Moon" in North America.

The name comes from the flowers called "pinks" by the English settlers in New England. [Gardener, artist, Tasha Tudor still speaks of her "pinks"....dianthus and sweet william.] These are sometimes called "clove pinks" (because they do smell wonderfully of cloves, as do carnations) or moss pinks because they are low growing.


Notice the sawtooth edge of the flowers? Thus the name "pinking shears" for these special scissors used to cut a sawtooth edge!

Wild phlox is also called a "pink" and appears in early spring...

So when you see that moon this weekend, it may or may not appear "pink" to you...depending perhaps on the state of your "ROSE-COLORED" glasses!

Elizabeth over at "Be...dream....play" is having a Ball on September 26th to celebrate the Harvest Moon!

[the full moon will come and go before I have access to a camera or a scanner.....so I will cut and paste images from the Internet to make my fantasy evening....]

For a really dreamy evening, this could be my ballgown. A colorwash of gold, peach and orange...just like a chrysanthemum!

This full moon is also called the Chrysanthemum Moon!

I'd be so glowing that the moon would have competition! (And after midnight, I'm already in a great color to match that "pumpkin" coach!)

Choosing shoes is something else.....

these are beautiful. Magic shoes! Just putting them on will make me into a wonderful dancer!

My Easter Choice....

This is a German papermache egg and Stieff bunny available from Hearthsong....if I were buying decorations for Easter , this would have to be what I choose!

I had always wondered how the bunny came to have all those eggs. Today I was reading a post from Julie at
Celtic Woman ...her March 19th equinox post...and she had reference to the legend of the Easter Bunny (who is actually a hare)...

Then I found all of this on the Hallmark website.

Easter Bunny • The Easter bunny has its origins in pre-Christian fertility lore. Hares and rabbits served as symbols of abundant new life in the spring season. It really is a hare – not a rabbit – that symbolizes Easter. • From antiquity hares have been a symbol for the moon, and the first full moon after the vernal equinox determines the date for Easter.• Hares are born with their eyes open, while rabbits are born blind. The hare was thought never to blink or close its eyes, and it is a nocturnal creature, like the moon. Two recent ATC's remind me that even though life has its rough spots, joy and happiness prevail!

I did see the moon in its lovely, golden, just-risen state yesterday evening on the way home from Mass...as we crested a very tall hill coming east...the moon was huge, on the altered horizon caused by the the hill! ...this has always been always one of my favorite places to watch for the moon!

Thank all of you for your prayers for my daughter's family...I may still be leaving to be with them this week when my son-in-law comes home from the hospital! Off to work now!

I was so looking forward to seeing the full moon this weekend....

It is so beautiful and ethereal....but of course sometimes a dark cloud may cross it.....

As seems to have happened to my daughter's family!

Her husband, who is an aircraft mechanic...working with his expertise and his hands for years....was injured Saturday morning.

the bones in his wrist were crushed, and he is now facing

lots of "down-time" and a bit of an unknown future.

As he heals, he will be at home, but unable to drive or be of as much "help" as he usually is....an interesting change of pace to say the least, in a young marriage.

Because they do not live close by, these times really make me miss my children...and I'm having to decide whether to rush in and "help"...or just leave my plans, to visit after Easter, as they were...?

Right now, I'm feeling like they will grow by handling this together....even though my daughter suffers from cronic fatique syndrome, and is just now learning how to take care of her own health and pain!

So, I'll probably stick to my plan to visit them at home in Atlanta, next month!
