The "busy-baby" summer continues in our family!


While daughter Laura was busy juggling her twin daughters Sophie Jane and Nina Kate, (cute!!, huh?).......

our son  and DIL  delivered a perfect grandson!!!

I can hardly wait to meet little guy! [and another trip to see those smiling, cooing granddaughters would also be fabulous!]

I'm just home from a trip to visit my grandkids on part of their Spring Break....a beautiful time of year! The pollen was really heavy, so they washed my car!!!

They had a new soft-serve ice cream machine to enjoy....and the "almost 12-year-old granddaughter" became a master at making it!

Her little brother was a master at eating it...in his own style of course!!!

My granddaughter was busy with her friends and her cell phone, but the grandson was good at shadowing me...he is also a master at stopping up toilets with too much toilet paper and locking bathroom doors when no one is in there....oh the fun and challenges of early childhood!

It was a good trip, a long drive with lots of wisteria and dogwoods to see....

this fabulous arbor of wisteria was a Crowley's Ridge rest stop on the Interstate in Arkansas.

And once I reached my own front yard, I was rewarded with a much anticipated sight....

remember these "Main Performance" daffodil bulbs given to me by my friend, Paula?

They are blooming...large and bold and bright yellow with just a hint of orange around the "trumpet". I hope they come back bigger and bettter each spring!

Now back to making those quilts for the twins to be born in June...2 little girls in the family I just visited.

[My son and DIL are having their first in late August. We will be told the apparent gender of that baby in a couple of weeks....]

Flashback to the end of May....
Mom and I drove to Georgia to visit my daughter. We went to granddaughter Lilia's dance recital. Here we are with Lilia and her roses after the recital!

Then Mom and Lilia at breakfast the next day!

Today we are still sorting and packing things at Mom's, moving her in with us by the end of the summer. All is going well with that!

I am almost through with reading "Cold Mountain". I like it a lot, Charles Frazier writes beautifully..(I just skim through any violent or upsetting parts of Civil War civilian suffering, ....could fast forward if I were watching the movie, I guess.) I especially like all the description of pioneer ways, the natural world in the Blue Ridge mountains, early gardening for survival, etc.

In my studio with Mom last Wednesday. [I wish the doors behind us were shut...but it is good storage!]

I'm holding a tomato from the garden outside the studio. I was fun to show her my creative space. I was at work for three days of her visit. She needed a creative project. We used the embroidery designs from JoAnn of "Pieceful Afternoon" who had a giveaway recently... so Mom stitched this bird on a towel for me!

I'm off to work this morning....will post more about the past week soon!

I was away for 4 sunny days....the garden did very well!
All the tomatoes look bigger and stronger.

The lettuce and the flowers are still thriving!

I am glad to be back to see this!

The dance recital on Saturday was very well done! It was a joy to watch, especially our Lilia!





Within the hour of our arrival back in Arkansas, Lilia made a collage using her boarding pass from today's flight.

I have 2 days off and am heading south to spend a couple of days with Mom. It might be just a bit warmer there....LOL!

[I see it is below zero where my son and daughter-in-law are. I will take a trip up to visit them when it thaws!]

Now, to do some chores, load the car and GO! [I think I'll be able to visit some of your blogs while I'm there too! And maybe take in a movie with Mom, so we'll be ready for Oscar night!]

I'm home now and it is wonderful to be back in MY world!!!!!

I'll be posting several favorite photos...we brought home over 250!!!!

The last photo is of me giving Mary a knitting lesson. [Even though I am holding the scarf she is knitting, she is doing a good job and catching on fast!!!]

Having to pack and work on finishing some Christmas gifts....but I will soon be with my wonderful grandchildren!





Daughter Laura is suffering from an episode of shingles....her first and hopefully last. As she has a family to care for and a business to run too, she needs some help. I am flying down like Mary Poppins....well, not exactly. But I do feel this is where I need to be now. So, some Christmas gifts may be wrapped unfinished and I know the recipients will trust me to complete them when I'm back home with my creative space and tools!



Mr. Pear will be coping here.

I won't be blogging much....chasing my grandson and caring for Laura's home for the next few weeks.
