Idaho Wine country...but I find a quilt shop!

Sleepy Hollow Quilts in Marsing, Idaho was open today! ( written yesterday, the day before Thanksgving)

We were driving down to the Snake river canyon for scenery but had to stop in!

Only open for a couple of months so far, the shop was charming! The space has been refitted by the owner's father who put in a wonderful natural wood ceiling and built many shelf units!

Here iam with Angela, the owner!

Near the front window was an antique treadle sewing machine once owned by her great grandmother.

A Wheeler Wilson # 8 from the 1800's,

These are photos of that model.....back later with those from the quilt shop!

I found a quilt book which had piqued my interest earlier...."The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt". So I now own this one, which has wonderful letters from farm wives in 1922!

Lots of patterns for 6" blocks! Happy hours for me when we get home!

AND, we did make it to the Snake river canyon......here is Mr. P!

Beautiful, though hazy! Misty mountains in the distance!

The red geranium is inside now!

This deep red geranium struggled outside all summer and finally burst into bloom with our cooler, wetter fall weather! I brought it in last week just before a killing frost.

This Sunday was my grandson Bindley's 6th birthday....here he is hanging out with a hammock a few days earlier!

****************************************************************************
Since I can't resist sewing things with British flags on them, I HAD to get some new jeans for him, cut a hole in them, and put in this fancy patch! Directions are on-line, but I have lost the link!

Found the link! (for the british flag patch)

Bindley's mother reports that he loves the jeans, but had one concern.....
He wanted her to cut off the "weeds"! Apparently he doesn't like ragged frayed edges ......so no " rag" quilt for him! LOL!

I am reading "Elizabeth and Her German Garden". A very peaceful novel! it was written  by Elizabeth von Arnim who was also the author behind a movie which I love, "The Enchanted April".

Home at last!

Just in time to cut a bouquet from the gerber daisies!

I took 3 days to drive, with frequent breaks to shop I mean walk and stretch my back. Of course, this was mostly in retail stores and flea markets....so I had "fun"!

I think I was thirsty a lot because tea sets and tea cups climbed into my cart.....

Along with this pretty apple serving tray!

I also picked up birthday goodies for DH, Steve.....whose birthday I had just missed!

The best part of the trip was visiting my two brothers, where I met their newly acquired mare. She is a Missouri Fox Trotter , and she needs a name.....I think "Ginger" is a very good choice, her pale ginger ale color and she is at times a wee bit feisty!

Near the large horse, was this newly emerged fungus. I LOVE the color! I was watching my step for other reasons...when I found this! LOL!

My SIL's angel trumpets were blooming nicely! her flower garden is always interesting!

On to my brother Chris's home. Late afternoon and darkness comes quickly , so I couldn't stay very long.

He is on a rise, and has a great view off to the west. Of course, the sinking sun just made haze I my photos. I'll have to go back when there is more daylight so I can take photos or do paintings!

I managed to pull into our garage just as the twilight was getting g deep...6:00 p m !

Good to be here! My back is doing fine!

Super grandma crashes

My drive to Georgia was pleasant and I was entertained by a recorded book as well as the lovely countryside! I did notice my left leg and back being uncomfortable after sitting several hours. I took breaks to walk flea markets.....no hurry. I broke the drive into 2 days.
Arriving Tuesday just as the almost 6 year old grandson hopped off the school bus, the timing was perfect!
Hugs and joy! Then upstairs to peek in the nursery where the twins were stirring after their naps! So adorable and huggable! I swept one up and soon hugged her sister. They have grown! More hair, more words...sentences now, and not just imperative commands! So fun!

After supper they head for the bath tub, suds and fun! Sophie and her brother could splash and squirm for hours, but Nina feels safer above their horseplay!

Soon, it's time to lift them out and wrap in cuddly towels. Off to find pj's and tuck in! ( a bedtime story of "Pumpkin Moonshines" by Tasha Tudor was offered! but they were too excited to sit and listen! )
Halloween evening, they were ready...not sure what it is all about, but ready.....off to the neighborhood party.... "The Shadow" about to put on his black head covering.....

And the girls, Sophie a rescue puppy, and Nina a grass fed cow....

After dark, back home to check their candy! Wow!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Somehow, I overdid it! My back went "out"'.....still is not back to normal. So I've been resting and even resorted to spending yesterday, 6 hours....here...
The Emory university John's Creek ER......rested there for sure, watching hours of cooking channel, in bed, not moving! Finally, they let me leave with 2 Rx's...pain reliever and muscle relaxer. I am staying in bed and napping today...but thinking of knitting a scarf...
This is strange yarn, but YouTube has a video of how to knit with it....so.... It will take time, but eventually, I'll be able to drive back home!
This gorgeous row of trees were photographed yesterday by my DH, Steve, and sent over for my enjoyment!
Being "stuck" here, I am missing some beautiful maple tree color on top of Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville ....
Thankfully, daughter Laura is a good caretaker, she stayed with me in the ER all yesterday!
On the way home from the ER, we went to a Persian grocery store where she got ingredients for this Pomegranate Walnut Chicken Stew...in the crock pot now...yum!
With basmati rice of course!
Now back to napping.....oh, I guess not, grandson Bindley is sorting his Halloween candy nearby.....maybe a piece wouldn't hurt me....?
