When granddaughters have dolls, we have to come to their aid.....fashionwise! ( This is a photofrom angrychicken.typepad.com ....)

Having a fun, crafting sewing day....planning to sew doll clothes! of course, having the granddaughter here to "help" would make it even more fun!
Mom taught my sister and I to knit, so I can also use odd bits of Mom's leftover yarn to create sweaters and hats for the American girl doll...

I have some wonderful memories of my own Nana making clothes for my dollies. How lovely you are doing the same for your grandaughter.

Hi, Lila,

I am glad you have something to occupy your time while taking care of your mom. My daughter had an American girl doll but I couldn't sew clothes for it. There was a lady in our little town who sewed doll clothes for my "Angela Cartwright" doll. Do you remember her? I loved those clothes. I can still see the polka-dot pattern of the pajamas to this day.

I love polka dots! Angela Cartwright is now an artist whose work is in Somerset Studio publications! How to cool to remember a doll based on her!

Some of my best memories are of my grandma making clothes for my doll. I still have a couple of items she made and I treasure them. How wonderful that you're continuing that tradition with your granddaughter.

Angela Cartwright's blog was the very first one I ever read. I was linked to it from the Somerset Studios website. Then I found a couple of artists' blogs (Misty Mawn and Nina Bagley)and started reading them. Those three inspired me to start my own blog.

And you inspired me to keep on!

Your doll clothes are beautiful. Love the gorgeous sweater on my moon goddess doll.

What a fun day! My grandmother never sewed much, but my mom did, by hand always until we could afford a sewing machine. But grandma and I would bake a lot! That was fun too!

These american girl dolls remind me of a doll that I had when I was little.. I am trying to find one similar to buy for my inner child.
