One more old "curly hair" photo...bear with me here!
This one is from a yellowed newspaper article in the 1980's. (A larger copy is on my Lila's Quilts blog.)
Being a very private person, back then, I think I was a difficult interview...so she sort of wrote a story of her own to go with the photo....that's when I learned to take the media with a grain of salt.
The floral dress/jumper was a look we loved in the days of Laura Ashley dresses!

I remember those jumpers. I even had a long quilted ' for-dress' jumper that I wore to special occasions in Alaska because it was warm.
Love the photo. Wish I had a sprig of curl somewhere! I really hate the photo they use for my column each month, but then I really don't like photos of me taken after 1977.
You look soooo young in this photo, and don't worry about the curly hair....I had a 'fro for several years back then!!
So pretty!!!!

Hi, Lila. I can't see your photo, but then I can't post one either. Blogger and I are having a conflict right now, I guess.
Such a pretty picture....Hope the press got it right about you being a talented artist!!!I still love Laura Ashley prints.
I enjoyed seeing your photos...I had Laura Ashley jumpers, too (I secretly wish that they were still popular...they were comfy). I also enjoyed reading about Little Rock, and seeing the photos. My late great aunt lived on S. Taylor in Little Rock for many years, so your photos brought back many happy memories.
I added your blog to my list so that I can visit you again.
Fondly, Andrea
Really enjoyed the photos ~ I think everyone had some version of curly curly hair back then!
I love Laura Ashley ~
Now I can see your photo.
I've had the same experience with some journalists who write what they hear instead of what I've said. My experiences have let me to take the news with grains of salt.
