Birthday girls!
Today is the twin's birthday---they are two years old!
Their older sister and her friends are making tissue Pom- poms to decorate for the party!
Here are the girls trying on their birthday dresses a few days ago. Photos of them always moving...because they are never still! Running down the hall!
One more.....this of Nina eating yogurt....a facial, secret of her beautiful skin!!!!

The Toddlers are here!
Never a dull moment if these two are awake!
Bringing joy and chaos to our home! Sophie is in constant motion, so the high chair helps! Nina is all girl,see those beads?!
Nina also loves make-up! She found my pink lipstick ....but wouldn't hold a pose so that I could get a clear photo of her pink chin!
My tea set was spotted quickly by Nina Kate who loves to play tea party.....she kept pointing and asking for my "teahot"......I love it but I had to say "No" for this visit!
Holding one of them for a few moments, here is Mr. P, with Nina on his lap...briefly!

Views from Oklahoma...some should be postcards!
Our daughter and oldest granddaughter riding horses with cousin Robert!
This area hasn't had enough rain for the last 3 years, so all cattle have been sold as there is no longer grass for grazing! Hard times due to weather...this is the former dust bowl!
Visiting the farm where I lived as a child, my daughter and some of her family get a real feel for the area!
A different farm where my mother grew up, now the house is abandoned....we were told to watch out for rattlesnakes! I see the lilac bush is a real surviver! It is leafing out on the end of the branches, trying to be pretty! We used to have tea parties under it when we visited Grandma!

On the drive home we saw even more dramatic western scenery!
Tomorrow the fun continues when my daughter and four grandchildren come here! Time to toddler proof the house! Yikes!

Family Reunion Fun!
Greetings from Oklahoma!!!
Most of these photos were taken by my nephew yesterday! we are in the most northwest corner of the Oklahoma panhandle, Lake Etling in Black Mesa State Park...
I did take this photo of my Aunt Ruby and Uncle Don making homemade ice cream before the picnic!
Bringing homemade vanilla ice cream to family events is a real tradition here!
Now for the photos. This area has had a drought for several years, but the night before the picnic a nice rain fell and filled the lake and the stream here overflowed it's banks, creating lots of wonderful mud by the time our grandkids began to explore!
Here two, 5-year-old cousins are having some wonderful times, as little boys have for centuries!
Even grown up boys revert to their wild ways here.....my son-in-law jumping from the cliffs.....
Yes, he survived! Which is good as he has a family depending on him!
As the hours passed, the energy got even wilder.....and my grandson (with help) covered himself with the gray volcanic mud.....a true transformation! Thank goodness there were showers available nearby and clean-up was possible!

Dancing through more projects! AND a give away!!!!
I have been able to finish a couple of projects in the last few days......
The first is the striped "Shellseeker" pullover. (below)
I finished the knitting, and working in the loose ends and even make a tag on light blue suede which has size and laundry instructions!
Then, excited about making some tote bags from vintage looking floral fabric, I was not falling asleep, so I got up and did a journal page. Something about writing down what is on my mind gives me a bit of closure and peace!
This morning, I finished the tote bags which I had journaled about. Now I made two, simply because there was enough of the fabric and I didn't want it lying around unused! The finishing touch is the deep pink button closure on the pocket. Those buttons were in Mom's button chest, so they are truly vintage...at least 30 and maybe 50 or 60 years old!
I am offering the "spare" tote bag as a give away. Just leave a comment by June 15th and I will draw a winner! [You could be the winner!]
One other thing on my mind that night was that my wonderful granddaughter, Lilia had been in a dance recital in Georgia. For the second year in a row, I wasn't there. Not only that, I had not even called to hear her account of the event! And of course, the middle of the night is not the best time to correct that oversight!
Here is a fuzzy photo....of Lilia and Laura outside the evening of her recital. [the photo was clear only in a tiny version! I still have miles to go on learning this new computer and trying out Pixelmater!]

This week's projects
Working on several meaningful and timely projects makes this a fun time of year....(forget the gardening for now!)
Still struggling with new technology....trying to load the photos I want!
so be it....the quilt above is made from cotton fabrics including some saved from my mother's shirts and blouses. A comforting way to remember her! I still need to quilt it...by machine I think.
The little pink polka dot dresses are almost finished and will be birthday dresses for the twin granddaughters who will be two years old on June 18!
The cotton sweater below is great for summer. I began it to use up the 7 spools of blue indigo dyed yarn which was left over from another sweater. This one has a boat neck and 3/4 sleeves. One half of a sleeve to go...then washing and blocking. It has been "spoken for" by my daughter, Laura. Hope it fits....we will soon see!
One more sweater, this one the Effortless Cardigan (you can find it on Ravelry), knitted this winter,and modeled by my daughter, Laura. Laura was her around the first of May....and we actually had snowflakes that day! This cardigan is now hers as it fit and she loved it!
Off to my wee job now...at the fabric store!

Dealing with loss
Seen through the picture window of my brother's farmhouse early yesterday morning.
The cattle were already finding their breakfast of soft grasses --- you can see them in the distance there.
Later as the day heated up, they found shade under the trees. My sister-in-law gave me a great tour of the place, riding in their Kubota. It was a beautiful morning!
I have been visiting family and working out the legal details and practical decisions involved in the passing of our mother. Quite a few hoops to jump through now! It is so good to have a wonderful, if eccentric, family to share this with!

The photo really shows how a year makes a difference! The children have grown and flourished and Mom has passed to an even better place!
Here are the "babies" today! ( well this month, anyway!)
Sophie and Nina are in for a big adventure, going to Clayton, NM for a Thaxton family reunion....maybe they will need some little pink cowgirl boots????

Where are my radishes?
These I painted a couple so years ago...love those pinky reds!
Now, I am trying to grow some. Radish seeds are large seeds and usually sprout quickly, giving early spring gardeners a positive bit of encouragement!
So far, mine are not up, though they have had a couple of weeks of both cool and warm weather and plenty of rain too......I did see a squirrel creeping along the row where they are planted, he was pausing and seemed to be nibbling on something? I am wondering.....?
