Resting

I'm driving to my daughter, Laura's home in Georgia...staying overnight at a motel in Alabama.....entertaining myself with the iPad camera, watercolor pencils, paints and sketch pad.

So why not try a self portrait!?!

Snap a photo in the bathroom mirror here in the motel....

Then play with different effects and filters....I like this one...sort of a blue haze....

Now, looking at the iPad screen,........try a watercolor sketch......

Once the sketch is here in the blog, I can see it even better....I know what's wrong...but we are shooting for an impression....not a photograph ( we already have that!) ...for one thing, there is no way could I paint that shiny nose!!! LOL!

As I sit here with paints and cup of water and cup of decaf.....you guessed it, the paint brush dips into the decaf by mistake.....so why not paint a little coffee into the picture, with coffee on the brush. OOOps!

Tomorrow, the grandkids!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!

Keeping up appearances....or not.

Photo this morning....feeling tired and unfocused.....and my hair (which I am trying to allow to return to it's now gray state.. never seen as I have colored it for many years)...

was looking pretty moth-eaten, flea-bitten etc. Still I didn't want to go to permanent color and face the continuing agony of roots growing out.....could there be something that would help???
I went to a beauty supply shop and asked for help. Several thought I should just do permanent color....but they helped me at least get a better look. (below)

The grays are still there, but blend better and I think I can keep doing this until it is all just gray. [Then I'll decide what to do next...but I want to see where nature has me now!]

There is something about even small improvements perking up our spirits....I like this and feel better! Below is the information of what I used....my color (to take out all that brassiness) is "TRUE STEEL". It is hair color...but it is temporary, not permanent!

Roux Fanci-Full Rinse temporary hair color. Keeps hair color looking its best between color treatments. Evens tones and removes brassiness. Blends away gray. Color is instantaneous and non-damaging. Added styling lotion allows for coloring and styling in one easy step. 15oz container.

Shampoo hair. Rinse well. Towel dry. Using rubber gloves, raise applicator tip of bottle and apply close to hair. Work color through hair with fingers, then comb through to ensure even distribution and saturation of every hair strand. Blowdry and style as desired. When washing face, if soap removes hair color at hairline, dab on a little Roux Fanci-Full Rinse with cotton. For longer lasting hair color, style with Roux Fanci-Full Color Styling Mousse.

I'm liking my haircut.....and here is a look at it, sort of! LOL!

All are real photos of me but altered with Photoshop! [and really, my hair looks just about like it "always" has...no big change!]

I've just been tagged by Loretta of Pomegranates and Paper to list 7 random things about myself.

Here goes...
(I may refer to this whimsical self-portrait which is almost finished....should I add a pear somewhere?)

1. I am a Libra with a Sagittarius moon sign ....supposedly this means I don't take life too seriously and am always ready for a good time.

2. Besides indigo my favorite colors are turquoise, sage green and pink.

3. My favorite potato chips are Cape Cod reduced fat...great tasting! Of course since potato chips are not a healthy food, I have to make up for that by eating LOTS of dark chocolate!

4. I'm not reading any more Jane Austen...in "Sense and Sensibility" , she writes a conversation where Mrs. Dashwood (the mother-in-law) is described as being too great a risk for leaving an annuity to as she might well live another 15 years...even though she is already "old" at 40! Reading these kinds of things, makes it hard to cling to my "Forever Young" delusion!

5. I am a child who was born on the Sabbath day...
Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
(Mondays child poem)
......and it pretty well fits except when I get depressed..(thank goodness for Sam-E tablets!)

6. I have a butterfly pasted on my forehead in the self portrait, because I am a strong follower of my intuition.

7. I adopted the blackbird motif from Alice Lynn Greenwood, a couple of posts back....but I still am reluctant to "fly"....not in airplanes...but reluctant to take risks!
I'll be back soon with the list I'm tagging...I'll let each tagged blog know!
TAGGING TIME!
1. ANY ONE who has a blog and wants to do this....list 7 random things about yourself. Then tag 7 more....
2. Maryam of My Marrakesh , beautiful lady in an exotic land!
3. Laurie of Rose Cottage..by the sea , lover of all things pink!
4. Julie Marie of Celtic Woman, the book maven!
5.Carmen of Strawberries and Champange a beautiful soul sharing her journey!
6.Caroline of Potato Prints , writing/sketching her blog in a new home!
7. All artists in our Art Doll Swap group...let's get those blogs going and share things about who we are!
