A special report from the front porch.....
we had a very peaceful 4th of July!
Yes, these rocking chairs were put to service!
Their old farmhouse is now in town and has beautiful gardens. These friends are truly "green" and animal lovers, I'm sure their gardens are just full of fairies!
We are looking at some "triple" ( more petals than just "double") daylilies here...
By the way, this bouquet features a daylily from my garden which also seems to be triple or even "twisted" triple, and a soft yellow gladiola which is from some "church bazaar" bulbs which my mother brought to me from Wisconsin....this is the first time I've seen what their bloom would be....(maybe I like gladiolas after all....?)
The baked goodies are chocolate chip oatmeal cake (which I made for the party)and plum buckle (which I am enjoying for breakfast now!)

I have lots of gladiolas and love them, mine are in pink, reddish-orange and peach color. You and your neighbors look lovely.
I absolutely have to try the plum buckle recipe since my plum tree is in full potential at the moment, LOL
Yesterday we made plum conserve and jam. Can I come over for a little rocking chair moment in your adorable porch? LOL
Love the front porch I can see myself sitting in one of your rockers..now I'd like a piece of that lovely choc.chip cake!!hugs NG
Looks like a peaceful day. The flowers are beautiful!!!!
xo
My grandmother, Gladys, loved gladiolas - maybe because she thought she might have been named for them?
Looks lovely in that yard and on that porch by the Arts Center of the Ozarks. That was the nearby town you visited? I like to travel about that far and no further.
What great pictures, Lila! It looks sunny and yet nice. And it looks like you aren't lacking moisture, which we are now!
The flowers are lovely and so are the yummy looking goodies! I'm glad you had a peaceful 4th! We did too! They are the best.
Well now, what a quaint idea to spend a holiday quietly at home with a few friends. I send my stamp of approval. I find that holidays often turn into stress tests with too much rushing around.
I love the triple bloom and the cakes!
I think there is something special about gladiolas.. have a wonderful weekend, Lila xo
Love your porch!! The desserts look delicious ~ especially that plum buckle!
I made it and it turn out delicious. Thank you for the plum buckle recipe!
I have daylilies that had triple blooms on them this year. They had single blooms last year. Do you know if this is normal or what. Glad you had a peaceful 4th.
Those rockers look very compfy! I would love to sit on that porch and enjoy some plum buckle with you!
Those triple lilies look gorgeous. Will we be seeing them turn up in a painting?
The plum buckle looks yummy. I actually have some plums in the fridge right now that aren't getting eaten fast enough. I went right to the recipe. Now if my oven will just start working. Looks like a power outage fried the connections. Fix should happen soon though.
