Resting

I'm driving to my daughter, Laura's home in Georgia...staying overnight at a motel in Alabama.....entertaining myself with the iPad camera, watercolor pencils, paints and sketch pad.

So why not try a self portrait!?!

Snap a photo in the bathroom mirror here in the motel....

Then play with different effects and filters....I like this one...sort of a blue haze....

Now, looking at the iPad screen,........try a watercolor sketch......

Once the sketch is here in the blog, I can see it even better....I know what's wrong...but we are shooting for an impression....not a photograph ( we already have that!) ...for one thing, there is no way could I paint that shiny nose!!! LOL!

As I sit here with paints and cup of water and cup of decaf.....you guessed it, the paint brush dips into the decaf by mistake.....so why not paint a little coffee into the picture, with coffee on the brush. OOOps!

Tomorrow, the grandkids!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!

Latest projects

A quilt for the grandaughters....love the aqua and red! and the striped binding! I will take it when I go visit next week!

Just finished knitting this "Effortless Cardigan" for my niece, Erin!
She said that she already had a red cardigan, so purple is what we decided upon!
This one is knitted from the top down, in a washable wool heather.

This shows how the cardigan hangs when worn! ( I didn't knit this one!) the instructions are available on Ravelry!

I just started casting on a crimson/ purple Madelinetosh DK yarn to make one for myself.....fun to knit these!

Kaffe Fassett was in our region this week. I went to his lecture and slide show on Monday night!

It went along with reading his autobiography, "Dreaming in Color", which was very enjoyable! At the lecture I was drawn to this quilt, by Liza Lucy. Kaffe advocates the use of greys to let the other colors shine. Perhaps because of the pearly quality of the light in London where he lives....

Now however, I am loving this quilt, also by Liza ...

I may have to get the kit for this one, SO PRETTY!

Planning to sew a Halloween costume.....or Octoberfest????

Cooler weather and rain have encouraged flowers to finally bloom now that summer is over!

Looking better than they did in July, August and September! Too bad frost will soon put an end to this!

Brilliant yellow colors!

Finished flower wheel wall hanging is a Bohemian delight! Frost will not damage these brights!
