It's Sunday morning, time to post another painting featuring windows!

This one, "Flowers on the Windowsill" is by Swedish artist, Carl Larsson. He was a contemporary of the Impressionists. His wife Karin was also an artist. They created a lovely home for their family with lots of light and decorative elements. Tourists can still visit the home today in Sundborn, Sweden.
I like the light ,clean, fresh look of his interiors, usually with the family doing domestic tasks. In this watercolor, the knitting lying on the table and child watering flowers help us to appreciate and celebrate the beauty of the "ordinary" day.
Hoping each of you has a beautiful, if "ordinary", day!

It really isn't an ordinary day at all, but a really special one. Nope we aren't doing anything, just getting caught up in blogland as I've been a bit neglectful this last week.

The painting had a saddness to it for me. Not sure why.

I can see how you feel that way about it...the colors are very subdued...and would be somber if they were darker...then there is the black yarn and perhaps the sense of being alone....
I would not say it is a joyful, summery scene....it could even be winter, with lots of snow outside, reflecting light to the interior...just thoughts!

I adore Carl Larrson - have for years. I was lucky enough to see a special about his art one time where the images in his art would fade in to the images of his actual home. His work depicts the authentic home as well as his family...and oh the colors used in their home. Wouldn't it be wonderful to visit it?
I hope all is well with you and that your new basement space is coming along!
XOXO
