"F" is for finishing!
This is a pastel by artist Sally Strand....she is fantastic! Taking ordinary subjects and truly illuminating them with her use of light and shadow.
I think of the hours of "finishing" handwork done to hem and sew the last details on the dresses my mom and I have made!

The painting captures all of the, to me pathos of my mom working by lamp light on her frame in a Nebraska farm house quilting that we might have warm covers for winter. Beautiful.

Many times I watched my mom finish hemming dresses and such that she had made for me...she made all my clothes when I was growing up:-) That painting brings back so many memories! I'm finally catching up on your news...great pictures of the new Bride & Groom and I'm glad that their honeymoon went so well:-) xox
